|Fwd: IMPORTANT MESSAGE from the performing arts department|
Good Morning Instrumental Music Students and Families,
I hope you are having a happy and healthy summer.
I wanted to ensure that everyone received and read the email that was sent by our Department Coordinator, Jill Denny, last Friday on behalf of the Performing Arts teachers. Last week we met and carefully crafted this email to send to our communities. Please see that we will have all of our classes and are working feverishly to plan and prepare. I will send additional details the moment we have more information regarding learning modality from the District.
We can get through this. We can get through anything together. Because together, we are stronger.
I appreciate your positive support and patience.
With love and support,

Subject: IMPORTANT MESSAGE from the performing arts department
Hello Performing Arts Families ~
We are aware of the restrictions made by the Santa Clara County Department of Education (see screenshot below), that they seem at first glance dire for performing arts classes, and that they are in full circulation creating worry and so many questions. We are reaching out to you to say YES we are still having performing arts classes! ALL of them! Your safety and well being are our top priority. And YES we believe we can have both SAFETY- and PERFORMANCE-BASED classes.
We are all living through a difficult time with lots of unknowns, but the integrity of the performing arts program WILL NOT CHANGE. We are committed to continuing the classes you signed up for, and we are working hard to keep them as you would expect them to be. Will it look different when school starts than it did last year in August? Yes, but it will still be what you signed up for - we will not turn our programs into theory classes, or listening classes, or writing classes critiquing the art - they will remain performance-based.
When the district has made its final decision on how we go back, we will reach out again with details for each sub performing arts department - but KNOW that since the day we left school in March we have been working as individuals, collaboratively as a performing arts team, and externally with colleagues in the field across the United States, to creatively problem solve! There is ALWAYS a positive solution - and we are doing our absolute best to find one.
Please hang in there with us. Be a part of our village as we forage our way through this new learning environment, and build structures that are as strong in quality as you have experienced thus far in our community.

We look forward to seeing you in August!
