|This Year in MV Athletics|
Spartan Nation: It is time to recognize the incredible year that MV Athletics has put together, as well as the steady improvement that has come from the endless hard work of the MV Student Athletes, Coaches and Athletic Department staff! Under the direction of AD Shelley Smith, the MV Athletic department has regained its footing and moved MV Athletics from a league afterthought to a serious contender in a majority of the 26 Varsity Sports! Their is still work to be done but it is becoming more common to see MV challenging and beating schools like Los Gatos, Palo Alto & Los Altos in many events. This change has also been propelled by the support of you the parents. Being active in your Athletes team and supporting the efforts of Spartans Sport Camp and MVHS Sports Boosters has made a huge difference. Now that these pieces are all working closely together with the single goal of improving ALL MV Athletics the results are starting to show up. Here is a great example: Over the past three years MV Athletic Teams have won 5 CCS Championships and participated in 10 CCS finals! Being in one CCS final a year is a pretty big deal for most of the 173 CCS schools let alone winning one. There are far more accomplishments to note but this is telling of the improvements across the board.
This year has been amazing for MV Athletics and all three sports seasons have contributed to its success.
